Even the best coloring will fade quickly without the right home care — and simple habits can noticeably extend the life of the color between visits.
First and most important — shampoo and care made for colored hair: they use gentler cleansers and do not wash pigment out as aggressively as regular products. For cool and lightened shades, purple-toned shampoos and masks help keep the undertone between toning appointments.
Second — water and styling temperature: very hot water when you wash, and frequent use of straighteners and curling irons without heat protection, speed up color loss and make hair more porous, which means it loses pigment faster.
Third — sun protection: UV breaks down both natural and artificial pigment, so in hot weather it is worth using products with a UV filter or a hat, especially after a fresh color.
Fourth — regular care, not only a “rescue” before you see the stylist: hydrating and repairing masks once a week work better than an intensive treatment once a month.
And of course, home care is a complement, not a replacement for professional correction: if you feel the color is “leaving” — do not wait. A timely light toning often saves time and money compared with a full correction later.
